On Sunday, Justin claimed his second victory in a row in the Willow Springs Kart Association Winter Series round two race. He ran an impressive 53.023 fast lap (though his MyChron 5 reported a fast lap time of 52.83), and from the start, was hot on the heels of Senior LO206 teammate and coach Alex Gutierrez of CatKart Racing. There were easily four to five times where Justin nearly made a pass on Alex, but stopped short of clearing him into the turns. It was a great experience, made only better by the spectators who took notice of his skill. Commented Gutierrez, "Great job today bud! Had me worried there for a bit! Can't have the student beat the teacher just yet! Great run today, fast, clean, and very smart!". Even race director Mike Cohen came by to congratulate Justin and offer some kind words of wisdom. In all, it was a great day at the track, where his crew was sporting the JBR colors for the first time at an event as well.
