Justin wrapped up a race-filled weekend with an incredible first win in the MB2 Sylmar GP on Sunday night, scoring the $150 top prize and two free races, along with the bragging rights for a big accomplishment! With a large field of 12 entrants, qualifying was broken up into two groups. During the second round, Justin managed to secure the pole in his second to last lap, which also serendipitously gave him kart #18. Making a perfect start off the grid, Justin battled to grab the inside line, and began to pull away to a five-kartlength lead before a mid-pack spin brought out the caution flag.
His lead was reduced for the restart, and that began a non-stop battle with Luke Duncan (TwoFlags) and a new entrant by the nickname of Gilles Villeneuve, who was clearly an experienced racer as well and eventually captured second place. The two would end up fighting bumper to bumper for the remainder of the race, with Justin managing to hold him off by defensively maintaining his line throughout, providing almost no passing opportunity for the faster Gilles who managed to secure the quickest lap time of the day trying to catch Justin.
In all, it was a great night for the JBR team, and a great position to be in heading into next weekend's first outdoor race of the winter season with WSKA in LO206 Jr. Class.
