In an incredible turn of events, Justin's first outdoor kart race in his new CRG KT1 Briggs & Stratton LO206 powered kart resulted in an amazing comeback, winning him a second place podium finish. His day began with a short practice run and qualifying round, landing him a P2 starting position for the next round. During the first heat, Justin ran into some trouble on his third lap, losing grip and spinning the kart on turn 5. In trying to recover, he ran into the barrier, and ended up bending both his front right spindle and tie-rod. Unable to continue, he pulled off track and waited the heat out, getting a ride back to the pits in the cleanup truck Toyota Tacoma. With some quick thinking, determination, and a bunch of cash, he was able to have his crew change out the broken parts and get him back in the game before heat two began. He also tried changing his gearing, but that yielded poor results, so he had his setup reversed back for the main. After starting in P3 for the final race, he used his skill and patience to make a late race pass on competitor Nigel Fuentes, and was able to hold him off for a few laps to take a close second place!
Special thanks to Ulysses Washington III and Justin Schuoler of Pacific Rides, Eric Nelson of Seventh-Gear.com, and the whole Blumenfeld family for their hard work and support, as well as the fellow Jr. LO206 competitors and Tri-C Karters for putting on such a great event.
